PRESS RELEASE

Free Use Helps Organizations Track and Monitor Software Installations

19th October 2004 – Centennial Software (www.centennial-software.com), a leading supplier of network discovery solutions, has today announced a multi-national partnership with the Business Software Alliance to help firms identify and manage the software installed across their networks with free use of its software.

Organizations will be able to register for a free one-month trial of the Centennial Discovery tool available directly from the BSA Web site, www.bsa.org. Centennial Discovery is designed to help companies get an accurate view of their installed software by automatically discovering and recording all software deployed throughout the organization, enabling managers to ensure full license compliance.

“BSA is pleased to add Centennial’s Discovery tool to our software asset management resources,” said Bob Kruger, vice president of Enforcement for BSA. “Centennial Discovery will be an excellent resource that will help businesses and organizations effectively monitor and manage their software installations.”

“Centennial Software fully supports BSA’s goal of educating businesses and organizations about software management and the importance of using only fully licensed software,” said Andy Burton, CEO of Centennial Software. “As well as the ability to quickly determine whether software usage exceeds licenses held, Centennial Discovery enables organizations to actively manage their software portfolio. With IT spend rapidly becoming second only to payroll in most organizations’ annual costs, Centennial Software’s flagship product ‘Centennial Discovery’ provides firms with 100% visibility of their existing software and hardware inventory, eliminating unnecessary purchases and ensuring that businesses are fully compliant with laws governing software licensing and usage.

BSA’s free audit resources are a key element in BSA’s ongoing educational campaigns that alert businesses to the serious ethical and digital security risks associated with unlicensed software use.

The Centennial Discovery tool, found on BSA’s U.S. Web site at http://www.bsa.org/usa/antipiracy/Tools-Resources.cfm, allows an organization to conduct audits on up to 25 computers for a period of 30 days from signing up for the service. When used in conjunction with a software management program, the reports produced by the audit tool will help organizations control and monitor their software installations.
