Analyst report welcomes Highlight, an outsourced network performance reporting service, concluding that “..there is virtually no financial barrier to entry for Highlight”, and advising its clients to discuss provision of the service with their Network Service Provider.

===========================================================
A report from technology analyst firm Butler Group, says that NetEvidence’s service fills a gap left by the vendors of traditional network management tools.

Highlight is an outsourced service that monitors network performance and provides reports to network service providers, resellers, and corporate business managers. The service is developed and supplied by European network performance reporting services company NetEvidence.

The report explains that many organisations have invested in traditional network monitoring and management tools, but the information provided by these packages is typically focused on meeting the needs of the network manager or service engineer. As a result, the information ‘is not formatted in a way that makes it readily digestible by the corporate business manager or the service provider account manager.’

In contrast, explains Richard Edwards of Butler Group, the report’s author, “Highlight is one of the few network reporting solutions Butler Group has come across that is specifically designed to meet
the requirements of business users… The reports presented by Highlight are appealing, invite investigation, and encourage regular use”.

Benefits of Highlight underlined by the report include:
• Low cost of entry
• Fully outsourced IT service with zero enterprise footprint
• Leverage of industry standard protocols and technologies
• Provision of easy to understand reports for non-technical users

Service providers, resellers and business users who use Highlight will get “one version of the truth” and Butler Group believes that the transparency provided by Highlight will “produce a win-win-win scenario for service provider, reseller and enterprise customer”.

Richard Thomas, CEO and founder of NetEvidence, says: “This report should make interesting reading for service providers and resellers keen to strengthen their relationships - and their revenue streams - with enterprise users. It is also essential reading for business users that need to ensure that their network usage is as efficient as possible.”

He added: “Our Highlight service has been developed to provide usable and up-to-date information to service providers, resellers and enterprise business managers, who all have a vested interest in knowing what is happening to the corporate network. The whole purpose of Highlight is to enable a common view between the business managers at these parties so they can make better informed decisions about the networks that support their critical business activities.”

NetEvidence’s Highlight has been deployed by 1400 organisations in 40 countries. It is relied on by some of the world’s most prominent service providers including Energis, IXEurope, MCI, PSINet, Sirocom and Objectronix. More information is available at www.net-evidence.com
