Inability to visualise correlations between information means most software works against the grain for staff wanting to collaborate closely on projects

Most of the desktop software packages in common use today are having a negative impact on teamworking as colleagues seek to collaborate more closely and more effectively on projects, according to Mindjet, a leader in information visualisation software.

Mindjet’s MindManager is an enterprise collaboration tool that provides an extremely visual interface for collaborative working, making information far easier to correlate, share and organise across departments, offices and continents than using conventional desktop software suites.

A recent survey conducted by Mindjet showed that many workers are frustrated with collaboration efforts on business projects. Of those people questioned, 43 per cent would rather do project planning alone than in a team and 42 per cent preferred to brainstorm on their own.

With many organisations having reduced headcount to manage their costs, project teams are under more pressure than ever to deliver projects to deadline and in strict accordance with business requirements. The organisational challenges that this creates for managing the information required to undertake projects often cannot be handled by conventional desktop tools, in particular email packages, Mindjet believes.
