Attention! Avanquest Kommunicate Announces Release of PC Guardian Technologies Military-Ready Encryption Program, Encryption Plus Hard Disk 7.1, Compliant with Common Criteria EAL4

Avanquest UK Corporate (Kommunicate), provider of Business Process Management solutions, and UK distributor of Encryption Plus data protection software for US-based PC Guardian Technologies Inc., announces that Encryption Plus Hard Disk 7.1, the Windows program that encrypts a computer’s entire hard drive, is now compliant with Common Criteria Evaluation Assurance Level 4 (EAL4), the international standard for IT information security. This means the program is ready for use by the governments and military in 17 nations -- including the UK.

Giles Forrester, Encryption Plus Hard Disk Product Manager at Avanquest Kommunicate, says “The Common Criteria EAL 4 certification is the most rigorous and internationally respected information-security program validation testing protocol. It provides the highest level of assurance that Encryption Plus Hard Disk effectively protects data and networks against malicious attacks.” According to Forrester, Avanquest Kommunicate has a large customer base in Government and the Public Sector, many of whom already benefit from using the hard drive encryption program.

Encryption Plus Hard Disk encrypts 100% of the hard drive, and it layers the protection by requiring Mandatory Pre-Boot Authentication of users before allowing the drive to be decrypted. Encryption Plus Hard Disk uses the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) algorithm and a 256-bit key, and it works on Windows NT/2000/XP and Windows Server 2003 computers.

PC Guardian Technologies specialises in the development, marketing and support of encryption software solutions for Windows PCs and removable media. The Encryption Plus family of products encrypt data on hard drives, CD-ROMs and other removable media; in email messages and attachments; and over Internet or network transmissions.

In the coming months validation testing of Encryption Plus Hard Disk, conducted under the guidance of the U.S. National Information Assurance Partnership, will continue. A final certificate is expected to be issued in 2005.

In 2003 Encryption Plus Hard Disk was awarded EAL1 Common Criteria certification. In addition, the data encryption program was government-validated for military use in Australia and New Zealand.
