(Northampton, UK) Consumers and businesses looking to make the switch to Broadband Internet can become overwhelmed by the large number of suppliers and packages available to them. But help is at hand. Net4Nowt, a directory of Internet service providers since 1998, has now collected thousands of consumer reviews on broadband providers to help demystify the level of speed, reliability and support users could expect from their potential new provider.

With thousands of recent reviews and a unique ISP Wizard Tool to help consumers find their right provider, Net4Nowt helps take the risk out of selecting a Broadband provider. Net4Nowt rates each ISP according to actual consumer opinion and offers a total rating out of five stars. Further analysis by speed, reliability and support is also available. The actual reviews by consumers are also available for reading.

The Net4Nowt system provides information on 416 ISPs and the amazing 2,165 packages they offer. These packages can all be analyzed via a simple ISP Search Wizard and shopping cart system which has been available to Net4Nowt users since January 2004.

Net4Nowt also indicates which ISPs are members of ISPA (the ISP body that provides extra levels of support to consumers who inadvertently select a rogue ISP), features daily ISP news and has an active discussion forum for consumers wishing to talk and share information about their broadband experiences.

Peter Harris, Managing Director of QiQ Limited, the company behind Net4Nowt said "Net4Nowt has been helping consumers select the right ISP for their needs since 1998. We are immensely proud of our track record in providing the information consumers need to help them in their selection. Whether its the completeness of our database, actual consumer reviews, discussion forum advise or ISP News we know we make the ideal one stop resource for ISP selection."

Net4Nowt invites visitors to pop along to the site to view their reviews or indeed to rate their ISP:

The word nowt is an English northern dialect word meaning "nothing." Thus, the phrase Net4Nowt therefore literally means "net for nothing." When Net4Nowt was first launched there were many Internet businesses practically falling over themselves to offer free Internet access and while this has changed Net4Nowt remains synonymous with helping consumers finding a good value Internet access deal.

Net4Nowt started as part of Paul Hillbeck’s personal web page in 1988, a simple listing of ISP's offering pay as you go Internet access. In 1999, Peter Harris of Internet Consultancy QiQ approached Paul with a view to developing the site and Net4Nowt was officially born.

Net4Nowt provide listing information to a number of publications. We are frequently quoted in national newspapers and in news stories relating to the ISP industry. The UK’s office of telecommunications is familiar with Net4Nowt and has used the site in its research, similarly the BBC quote our information in technology related news stories.

Paragon Publishing's' Practical Internet Magazine recently tried to figure out the best web sites of all time. They assembled a panel of 50 industry experts to decide on the top 100 sites. Net4Nowt appeared in the listing at position 73.

The review of the site reads "It seems that there are more ISP's in Britain than there are people, and this site has become invaluable to anyone trying to pick out the right service provider for them. You'll find comprehensive lists of free, 0845, unmetered and broadband ISP's here."

The top ten included sites such the BBC, Amazon, Stretmap, Railtrack, Yahoo, Yell, eBay and Lastminute with Google picking up the number one position.
