· Unlimited calls to 1.3 billion phone lines in 35 countries
· 45 UK & USA geographical codes on offer
· Emergency 999 calls available for 1st time
· Plans to introduce post-payment

10/11/04: Gossiptel today challenged the traditional telephone landline dominance with the introduction an unlimited international talk time plan covering over one third of the world and including a choice of 45 UK geographical numbers for customers of its consumer broadband telephony service.

Gossiptel also unveiled its plans to provide access to 999 emergency calls and the opportunity to post-pay for calls by the end of the year, thus making broadband telephony a very real alternative for the UK domestic telecoms market.

Gossiptel is the UK's first consumer broadband telephony service to offer free global calls to every broadband household. Owners can make and receive telephone calls via a broadband Internet connection rather than over the ordinary telephone network and they will receive a free second line and 0870 telephone number to do so. The service runs independently of any home computer.

It has introduced two money saving pre-pay monthly plans. World 500 gives subscribers 500 minutes per month of talk time to landlines in 35 countries* for £9.99; and World Unlimited offers an unlimited talk time package to landlines in 35 countries for £19.98. Both plans also include calls to mobile phones in the USA, Canada, China, Hong Kong and Singapore. ** Subscribers' outgoing calls to any broadband telephony service using the industry standard SIP protocol continue to be completely free.

Subscribers to either plan can choose a geographic number from the most popular UK STD codes including London, Manchester, Edinburgh, Cardiff, Birmingham and Bristol. It is not necessary to choose a code that matches your actual location, so a London based business with many Scottish customers might choose to have a Glasgow number instead. By the end of the year customers will be able to make emergency 999 calls from their Gossiptel phone, choose from USA East and West coast region codes and will also have the option to pay monthly for their chosen plan by direct debit post-pay.

All Gossiptel users can now add multiple lines to their account. Users can have up to ten lines on a single Gossiptel account, offering an ideal solution to small businesses. For an extra £3 per month account holders can set up their own conference room allowing them to chat to any number of colleagues or friends.

Kim Thesiger, Co-founder of Gossiptel said today: "Today marks the beginning of end for phone services where people are billed based on how long they make a call for or even where in the World they call. In future, consumers and businesses will pay flat monthly fees for their phone services no matter where they are calling or for how long. Gossiptel already allows you to make unlimited calls to more than a third of the World's population for a flat monthly fee"

New products will also be available to make Gossiptel's service simple to use for everyone. Cable modem customers who do not have a spare Ethernet port can purchase Gossiptel's Cable Router for £29.99. The router comes with four extra Ethernet sockets, suitable for connecting Gossiptel's Sipura Internet phone adapter or any other device that requires an Ethernet socket to their broadband connection.

ADSL customers who currently use a USB modem can purchase Gossiptel's DSL Router for £34.99 as a replacement for their existing modem which comes with four Ethernet sockets, suitable for connecting the Sipura adapter, and one USB socket. This router will allow users to connect both their PC and a Sipura adapter to their broadband connection.

Customers can benefit from unlimited free calls with friends or family all over the world with the 'Buddy Pack'. The package offers two Sipura adapters at a reduced price of £79.99 inc. VAT each (usual price £87.99); one for them and one for their loved one, whether they live in Cardiff or Canada!

Subscribers continue to benefit from unlimited outgoing 'SIP to SIP' calls completely free of charge.

World 500 and World Unlimited, offering over eight hours international talk-time for less than £10 or unlimited international talk time for under £20, are pre-paid by credit card one month in advance.

*The pre-pay plans cover landlines in any of the following 35 countries - UK, Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Chile, China, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Holland, Hong Kong, Hungary, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Malaysia, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, and the USA.

**Calls to mobile numbers outside the USA, Canada, China, Hong Kong, Singapore and international calls to countries outside the 35 countries listed are paid by topping-up your account online.

Calls made through the 'World Unlimited' package will be terminated after 60 minutes - Customers can immediately redial. Calls are limited to 5,000 minutes per month. This equates to over six hours of daily talk time.
