Azure, the telecoms revenue assurance and management company, today announced the appointment of Alison Porter as its new general manager for fraud and security. Alison is an experienced security professional and has worked for over seventeen years in the telecoms sector.
In her new role at Azure, Alison will be in charge of reviewing all activities under the fraud and security headings. Her key responsibility will involve the creation of a plan and strategy to increase Azure’s business in fraud and security significantly over the next five years.
Previous to Azure, Alison worked for BT since 1987. Most recently she worked in BT Retail where she held a number of general management roles including Programme Director in BT Mobile where she helped create and implement BT’s mobile strategy and the role of General Manager for the Emerging Businesses division. Alison has also worked in BT’s Corporate Strategy unit as European strategy director where she managed the separation of fixed and mobile operations between BT and O2 in Europe.
Before moving into general management Alison had fifteen years professional security management experience including positions as Head of Security for BT Worldwide as well as other security roles for both BT UK and BT Group Security.
Before Alison joined BT she worked in the civil service in a variety of roles. She worked at the Civil Service College as a course director for the European Reciprocal Training Unit and has also worked at HM Customs & Excise as a drugs investigator. She has maintained her links to the public sector through two non-executive directorships with HM Land Registry and the State Veterinary Service.
Alison was educated at Leeds University with a degree in French and German and is fluent in both languages. She is also an alumni of London Business School.
