Driving market forward with certified MMS wireless applications tests
Anite, a leading provider of test and measurement technology, today announces the launch of its Application-enabler Conformance Toolset (ACT). The new ACT software tool provides a base for validated testing for MMS as well as a capability for Browser testing (WAP2). These tests are among the first to be developed to the OMA (Open Mobile Alliance) standards, and are instrumental in delivering the required functionality within the MMS ETS (Enabler Test Specification).
ACT addresses the ongoing issues many consumers have experienced in receiving MMS messages across different operators using a variety of terminals. The software tool will be able to test every implementation from version 1.0 to version 1.2 (using the v1.2 ETS) to ensure the MMS capable terminal reaches the required standard. With such a tester available, conformance issues can be resolved to ensure the service can be rolled out to consumers with confidence that in turn should increase usage and operator revenue.
Anite has worked closely with the OMA, the custodians of MMS specifications, to ensure the new application-enabler tester delivers to the GCF (Global Conformance Forum) and PTCRB (PCS Terminal Certification Review Board) requirements.
In addition to providing the Open Group Browser tests, ACT is expandable to potentially test for data management, data synchronisation, DRM and IMPS, and has been designed to complement existing interoperability testing.
Rick Gelaky, Product Marketing Manager of Anite Telecoms, says: “We are delighted to be able to offer the new ACT software tool and MMS test cases. For the first time manufacturers and operators alike have the ability to test handsets effectively for MMS and Browser services, enabling them to offer the best possible services across networks and handsets. Operators are very keen to deal with any service issues that affect their customers and our products enable them to do just that. Our relationship with bodies such as the OMA, PTCRB and GCF helps us to set the standards that will continue to drive the mobile market forward.”
The ACT software tool and MMS test cases are available for Anite customers to download via the Anite website (www.anite.com/telecoms) and are easily upgradeable for existing SAT or SAS customers.
