TZ 150 makes enterprise-class, layered security affordable and simple for SMBs, remote branch offices and telecommuters

London, UK. – January 17, 2005 – SonicWALL, Inc. (NASDAQ: SNWL) today introduced the TZ 150, the world’s first small business firewall supporting gateway anti-virus and intrusion prevention. The TZ 150 provides complete protection from viruses, worms, Trojans and other content-based attacks in an integrated security solution for small networks, delivering an exceptional combination of security, affordability, and ease-of use.

The TZ 150 from SonicWALL, a leading provider of integrated security, productivity and mobility solutions, presents a single point for filtering undesirable network traffic. Extending SonicWALL’s award-winning TZ appliance series, the TZ 150 combines VPN and firewall capabilities with powerful gateway anti-virus and intrusion prevention, content filtering and enforced anti-virus in single, compact device.

“There is no such thing as a small-business virus,” said Matthew Medeiros, president and CEO of SonicWALL. “A two-person operation is just as exposed as a large organisation to gateway attacks from real-time traffic, yet until today protection was beyond many small firms’ price range or IT capabilities. The TZ 150 delivers the latest integrated anti-virus and VPN features and is highly affordable, very easy to use, and ideal for small businesses with limited access to IT support.”

Viruses, worms and Trojans are the most expensive security threats in dollar costs to businesses of all sizes, according to the 2004 CSI/FBI Computer Crime and Security Survey, Until today, there have been few solutions that comprehensively address the requirements of SMB customers, who prefer integrated security appliances because of ease of use and affordability. The TZ 150 supports SonicWALL’s powerful Gateway Anti-Virus and Intrusion Prevention Service, which is capable of scanning unlimited numbers of files of unlimited size for viruses. The service supports multiple protocol types and provides constantly updated, comprehensive protection against threats including buffer overflows, worms, Trojans, backdoor exploits.

The TZ 150 is easily managed using SonicWALL’s award-winning Global Management System (GMS). The remote provisioning and management capabilities of GMS make SonicWALL’s entire product range, including the TZ 150, important offerings for Internet service providers, managed security service providers, and distributed networks such as retail chains.

“Threats to company networks are moving away from traditional email-based attacks to using worms that seek and exploit unpatched systems,” said Derrick Ross, technical director of Hampshire Business Systems, a SonicWALL Gold Medallion partner. “The TZ 150 is very well suited to retail networks, ISPs and managed security service providers who need a single point for filtering undesirable traffic with an additional layer of anti-virus protection to minimise risk.”

The TZ 150 supports hardware-accelerated IPSec 3DES and AES encryption as well as SonicWALL Global VPN Client upgrades for secure remote access to critical network resources. Building on SonicWALL’s deep-packet inspection architecture, the TZ 150 can be easily managed remotely as part of a multi-firewall and VPN environment using SonicWALL’s industry-leading Global Management System. Its compact form factor incorporates a single auto-MDIX Ethernet WAN port and a four-port auto-MDIX LAN switch, allowing multiple devices to connect safely to the network.

Features of the TZ 150 include:

· Powerful deep packet inspection firewall provides business-class protection

· Gateway anti-virus and intrusion prevention blocks viruses, worms and Trojans at the gateway

· Secure IPSec VPN allows connectivity to remote networks

· Easy-to-use configuration wizards streamline installation and management

· Comprehensive logging identifies suspicious network activity

· Dynamic Domain Name Service (DDNS) support allows servers to remain accessible even with a dynamic IP address
