Full Screen, High Quality Web Streaming With No Software Installation

19 January 2005: Vividas, the video technology developer, today announced that it has launched its web streaming technology in the UK. The new product provides marketing and advertising professionals with a new method for showcasing their products and services by enabling potential customers to see full screen, high quality TV commercials, film previews and internal communications on most PCs or Macs with no software installation required. In addition, the small file size can enable significant savings on bandwidth costs.

Since the soft launch in Australia in October 2004, the streaming technology has already been adopted by nine businesses, including Nissan, Rip Curl and Buena Vista International. Samples of streaming video are available at http://video.vividas.com/sample/sales/

Vividas technology overcomes the disadvantages in many competing streaming solutions, which typically only offer partial screen or poor quality full screen viewing, and which usually require the user either to have or to install specialist player software. The core Vividas technology comprises a proprietary media player incorporating third party video and audio decompression technology.


Vividas streaming technology enables full screen, high quality video to be viewed, normally without requiring software installation, and also allows user tracking and enhanced usability. Because few people need to install any software before viewing the video, advertisers may reach inside many corporate firewalls. Other key features of the Vividas streaming technology include synchronisation of audio and video and the efficient use of bandwidth allowing businesses to deliver video to low bandwidth users.

Since October 2004, Nissan Australia has used the streaming service to allow web users to see the latest ad for the Nissan Patrol www.nissan.com.au/patrol. Buena Vista International used Vividas technology for an innovative movie marketing campaign for one of its latest releases, the Walt Disney “National Treasure”, allowing consumers to view 12 minutes of the movie, full screen, adding a whole new dimension to the ‘teaser strategy’. Rip Curl used the service for the online premiere of its latest surf movie and is also showcasing 21 minutes of a new documentary on surf star Mick Fanning www.ripcurl.com.
