Bridgeworks provides iSCSI and Fibre Channel connectivity for new M5 Data storage products
Christchurch, UK – 26th January 2005 - Storage innovation company M5 Data has revealed an OEM agreement to incorporate Bridgeworks’ Fibre Channel and iSCSI connectivity technology into M5 Data’s new line-up of storage products.
Bridgeworks’ connectivity products include the Potomac iSCSI Bridges, Tamar Fibre Channel Bridges. All Bridgeworks products are based on open, industry standards and protocols, ensuring that M5 Data’s products will operate seamlessly with other standard-based systems.
Founded in 2003, M5 Data – whose core team has been together for many years – will currently not reveal details about the new range of products. It does say, however, that those products will provide world-beating capacity and flexibility when launched during 2005, and that a number of innovative features will separate them clearly from current competition.
“When a team of M5 Data’s calibre selects a product to incorporate into its own, you can be quite sure the homework has been done first,” said David Trossell, Bridgeworks’ CEO.
“That they’ve qualified Bridgeworks is a welcome affirmation that our products offer the right quality, reliability and performance at the right price for today’s storage market, where iSCSI and IP-based SANS is clearly the growth area,” he added.
Eric Lowe, marketing director of M5 Data, said: “In developing our new range we’re focusing on our technological strengths - innovative storage product design and development, not the connectivity element. We intend to use Bridgeworks’ expertise to provide connectivity options beyond standard SCSI and to ensure we come to market with products whose ability to fit into a range of environments is the best it can be.”
