Extension of Support to Open Source Platform Reflects Broad Commitment to Customers And Partners, as Linux Gains Growing Share of IT Infrastructure
LONDON, UK - 15 February, 2005 (RSA Conference 2005 & LinuxWorld 2005) - Thor Technologies, the most experienced and proven provider of identity management solutions that automate corporate compliance and reduce security risks, today announced that the company's leading identity management solution, Xellerate® Identity Manager, is now certified to run on the Red Hat Enterprise Linux platform. Reflecting Thor's commitment to deliver identity management for the entire enterprise, this extension of platform support for Xellerate Identity Manager is in response to the accelerating rate of migration from proprietary to open source platforms for key components of enterprise IT infrastructure.
"By adding Red Hat Enterprise Linux support to Xellerate Identity Manager, we are responding to the needs of our customers, who are requesting the unparalleled flexibility and adaptability that characterise our solution across all platforms within their organisations," said John Aisien, vice president of marketing and business development, Thor Technologies. "For some, Linux support is already a 'must-have', demanded by their IT and business strategies. For others, it aligns firmly with their future direction. Our proactive investment provides them with additional flexibility as their strategies evolve."
More and more enterprises are taking advantage of such options. Recent data continues to validate the growing adoption rate of Linux in enterprise deployments. Reports published by IDC and Forrester point to the continued strong growth of Linux. IDC expects the overall enterprise server market to grow 5 per cent in 2004 and to achieve a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) over the next five years of 3.8 per cent, from $53 billion this year to $60.8 billion in 2008. The IDC report predicts that the most dramatic growth within this category will be for Linux-based servers. The use and adoption of Linux will grow at a 47 per cent rate, reaching $3.23 billion this year. Linux machines are expected to capture 29 per cent of the server market by 2008, nearly tripling their current market share.
"Thor's support of Red Hat Enterprise Linux underlines the increasing importance of open source as a strategic platform for the enterprise," said Alex Pinchev, executive vice president, worldwide sales at Red Hat. "Integration is key to the Thor solution's value as an identity management platform. Xellerate Identity Manager support for Red Hat Enterprise Linux will benefit Thor's customers and implementation partners and offer yet another solution choice for Red Hat customers."
According to the leading analyst firm, Datamonitor, the total market for identity management products and services is set to grow from 2003 revenues of $4.3 billion to $6.2 billion by 2007 at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 9.9 per cent, with provisioning accounting for the highest rate of growth.
Thor's solutions automate the management of identities and user access privileges across all of an organisation's platforms, systems, applications and physical assets. As a complete enterprise identity management solution, Xellerate Identity Manager combines powerful conceptual models with an intuitive interface design and is easy to configure and deploy. In addition, the company's Xellerate Password Manager and Xellerate Audit and Compliance Manager package key functions of Xellerate Identity Manager into stand-alone offerings for organisations that don't immediately require a complete identity management solution but need to quickly meet corporate goals such as regulatory or security compliance.
Xellerate Identity Manager, version 8.0.2, with support for Red Hat Enterprise Linux is now generally available.
