Culham Innovation Centre, 17th February 2005 - Kaspersky Lab, a leading developer of secure content management systems, has announced the launch of Kaspersky Personal Security Suite 1.0, which will provide protection for home users against malicious programs, hacker attacks and spam. The suite comprises of three of Kaspersky Lab’s award winning products Kaspersky Anti-Virus, Kaspersky Anti-Hacker and Kaspersky Personal Anti-Spam to provide unrivalled protection against all cyber threats.

David Emm, Senior Technology Consultant of Kaspersky Lab says, “Many of today’s most successful threats are a composite ‘bundle’ that includes different types of malicious code. They use multiple attack mechanisms, combining the use of system exploits [previously associated with hackers] with the spreading capabilities of viruses and worms. Often Trojans are also dropped onto victim machines, turning them into spam-spewing ‘zombies’ and allowing them to be controlled remotely by the author or ‘master’ of the Trojan. To counteract these ’compound’ attacks home users now need to consider a three pronged approach to protecting their computers and the personal data stored within.”

The anti-virus element of Kaspersky Personal Security Suite effectively blocks all sources of malicious code by monitoring all infection vectors, including file operations, data storage locations and email. Users can choose to automatically receive hourly updates of the anti-virus signature database to ensure effective protection.

The firewall monitors data exchanged between the computer and the Internet, and blocks unsanctioned access to user data. Hacker attacks are averted, and programs accessing the Internet are also monitored for suspicious activity. With the 'stealth' function, the user can hide the computer from other Internet users, while continuing to work as normal.

The anti-spam program is based on Spamtest technologies developed by Ashmanov and Partners and enables home users to keep their mailboxes free from unsolicited correspondence. Multi-level filtration of mail traffic includes the application of intelligent content and graphical analysis, and a large data base of spam signatures. The Spamtest linguistic laboratory, which releases updates to the spam databases around the clock, helps to ensure maximum protection.

'With Kaspersky Personal Security Suite, we're offering home users protection against all cyber threats. Cutting edge technology, a user friendly product, and excellent service - hourly updates to the anti-virus and spam signature databases - ensure that users will be protected against even the very newest viruses and types of spam' commented Alexey Kalgin, Head of Product Development.

The product is available for electronic download from www.kaspersky.co.uk The initial cost is £40.00 (ex VAT) and annual licence renewal is 70% of list price. Boxed versions of the software are also available at £42.00 (ex VAT).
