HRM Connect™ Pay Review uses web and workflow technologies to automate the pay review process, relieving administrative burden and saving time

British American Tobacco has selected HRM Software’s pay review software, HRM Connect™ Pay Review, to manage its annual pay review processes. The company will initially use the web application to manage pay review information for over 1,500 UK-based employees. British American Tobacco also plans to roll out the software to other international locations including Australia and South Korea.

HRM Connect™ Pay Review will replace the existing spreadsheet approach used to manage the pay review process within British American Tobacco. This involves creating and distributing individual departmental spreadsheets containing the information needed to support pay review, which then have to be collated and merged together again at the end of the pay review process. With the new system, managers simply log on via their browser to a secure password-protected intranet site and can access information tailored to their group profile and makes informed review decisions. Review proposals are then automatically routed through British American Tobacco’s approval process.

The new system reduces the complex, administrative burden of managing individual spreadsheets, which can run into thousands for large organisations. It also minimises the possibility of data being lost, and ensures that pay review specialists never lose sight of either the data or the process.

According to Malcolm Douglas, Remuneration and Benefits Manager at British American Tobacco; “The new system enables us to maintain control of the entire process and individual managers can now update information securely and easily in less time, improving productivity. Since the pay review process varies little in different countries, we plan to extend its use across other international offices. The fact that it is real-time is a great benefit for the other countries that may have managers working across different time zones, such as Australasia,” he added.
