Envesta Telecom Launches ‘Cheaper Call Rate’
The UK’s first flat-rate, single-access telephone service for international calls

Seven Telecom, a subsidiary of Envesta Telecom Plc, the AIM quoted premium international telephony provider, today launched ‘Cheaper Call Rate’ (CCR), the UK’s first single stage, flat-rate telephone service. By routing calls over its ‘single-stage’ access platform it is able to cut the cost of international calls for consumers to as little as 2p a minute at any time, from any UK telephone line, whether land-line or mobile.

Traditionally, low-cost international calling services have been difficult for the user to access and have had complex billing models. Cheaper Call Rate has overcome this by introducing a single stage access number and single point billing via their telephone provider.

Cheaper Call Rate works via a unique single-stage access method. On registering at, the fully automated system ‘translates’ the International number the customer wishes to call to a non-geographic replacement number. This number has a pre-determined price associated with it, such as Australia for 2p per minute (inc. VAT). Once the number is translated the new non-geographic number effectively becomes the new telephone number, which can be shared with friends and family in the UK so that everyone can benefit from the same savings.

Marketing activities for Cheaper Call Rate will initially concentrate directly within the consumer and business market, later extending into the brand community, where opportunities exist for organisations with a large customer-base to enhance distribution and market penetration through affinity partnerships and white-label options.

The market for International calling is currently very confused for most users, with a recent survey conducted on behalf of Seven Telecom indicating that 1 in 10 people are unable to recall the access code for most overseas destinations. The survey also identified that, when questioned on our closest neighbours, 88% of respondents were unable to identify the dialling code for France and 91% unable to state the code for Ireland . Cheaper Call Rate eliminates this issue by replacing the confusing International prefix with a memorable 08xx number – a number that remains with the translated number regardless of where in the UK customers are calling from.
