The prestigious Institute of IT Training’s National Awards 2005 honours afiniti for the successful and rapid delivery of one of the UK’s most complex IT Rollout projects, with the coveted Gold prize for External Training Project of the Year.

When making the award, the judges were looking for evidence of dynamic teamwork, strategic planning, enthusiasm and the ability to inspire end users. Highly specialized in IT rollouts, afiniti’s approach went beyond training to include user engagement, communications and support to each Rollout. This was clearly demonstrated in the winning project, which was the IT element of Network Rail's £30m maintenance in-sourcing programme. afiniti completed the communications and training project on time (7 months) and under budget - no mean feat considering they were responsible for the education of 7000 users, joining Network Rail from 6 separate companies across 300 sites.

Joe Van Valkenburgh, Network Rail's information management director, said, "This was a challenging programme - some people thought it could not be done. But we found a way to do it, by having the right team in place with a clear objective, empowerment and proper support. The successful completion of this programme is a great example of how a team worked together with a common goal, and delivered a difficult programme on time and under budget."

Jake Holloway, Principal Consultant, afiniti comments, “We are extremely proud of the achievements of our team. This well-deserved Award comes from our profound knowledge of the issues facing IT rollouts, our focus on the end-user and hard work”.

The gold award comes just two months after afiniti became an Institute of IT Training (IITT) Accredited Training Provider. With three - as opposed to the recommended six - weeks' preparation time, afiniti passed the rigorous accreditation assessment with no non-conformances.

To celebrate afiniti’s tremendous win, a FREE seminar will be offered to IT project and programme managers about their approach to IT rollout projects. This seminar is designed to help those involved in delivering; new hardware, software applications, desktops and operating systems and IT-related change.
