TAZZ responds to market success and continued growth of policy control market

PROVIDENCE, RI – 10th March 2005 – TAZZ Networks, Inc., the leading provider of policy control infrastructure solutions for broadband service providers, today announced the expansion of its European presence through the addition of two key executives and the opening of a new office. TAZZ has added John Owen as the vice president of Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) and Jeff Sanderson as the director of sales engineering EMEA. Owen is responsible for TAZZ sales, support, and business development activities throughout EMEA, and Sanderson will drive all technical sales and support activities.

"John and Jeff bring a wealth of experience and industry relationships to our team at a point when market execution within Europe is extremely important," said Dan Lowe, president and CEO of TAZZ Networks. “Market activity within the policy control space continues to grow at an extraordinary pace. We are at a critical phase in our company’s development, with major European commercial deployment and commercial pilot activity underway. We are increasing our investment to have a complete go-to-market team in place to guarantee our continued success in supporting our customers.”

John Owen joins TAZZ Networks from Sycamore Networks. He brings 20 years of senior sales and marketing experience in high-tech companies. At Sycamore, an innovator in the optical networking market, Owen built and managed the European sales and support operations. Owen created and executed a go-to-market strategy that resulted in Sycamore gaining 24% of the European market. Prior to Sycamore, he held numerous executive positions within Nortel Networks, most recently as vice president of carrier networks, British Telecommunications. During his tenure at Nortel, he was responsible for aligning products to market demands, securing strategic wins to ensure long-term revenue growth and improving customer satisfaction levels.

Jeff Sanderson comes to TAZZ from CoSine Communications, where he spent the last 4 of his 18 year career, as the director of worldwide sales engineering, leading the technical sales and support efforts for the CoSine IP Service Switch. CoSine was one the innovators of a new class of IP switches that focused on service creation and delivery. Prior to CoSine, he was with Ascend Communications (acquired by Lucent Technologies) as international technical director for its Global Integrated Carriers Division. Prior to these roles, Jeff held a number of management roles within British Telecommunications, focusing on enterprise and internet networking design and development.

TAZZ has also expanded its office locations in order to accommodate its growth and market activity. The new office at Adastral Park, Ipswich, UK provides TAZZ with an office in one of the UK’s key telecommunication technology regions. This new regional office adds to the existing presence of TAZZ, consisting of its EMEA headquarters in Uxbridge, UK and a sales office in Brussels, Belgium. “It is a very exciting time to be joining TAZZ; broadband service providers are facing significant challenges to their existing business models,” stated John Owen. “The market is forcing a transition from a transport-focused business model to a customer-centric, application-focused model, all built around a converged IP infrastructure. And TAZZ is extremely well positioned to assist broadband service providers in this critical transition, one that will define the success or failure of future revenue and margin growth objectives”.
