World’s first multi country malt hits the market
- a crackin’ Celtic combo! -
The Scots can now join the Irish in their toast to St Patrick’s Day with the world’s first multi country malt whisky - created from a mix of Irish and Scottish malts by the industry’s newest award winning kids on the block, Jon, Mark and Robbo’s Easy Drinking Whisky Company.
The recipe produced by combining Cooley’s Single Irish Malt and Bunnahabhain Scotch Single Malt brings out the best of these Celtic classics to create a super smooth and super sweet malt – hence its simple name The Smooth Sweeter One.
One of JMR’s founders and the former master distiller of The Macallan, David ‘Robbo’ Robertson said: “Our whiskies have been created based on taste and flavour through mixing a number of malts together to produce what we consider to be the perfect malt.
“Numerous combinations were tried and tested but the Cooley’s and Bunnahabhain was the winning formula. At that time, we were unaware that this had never been done before so we’re chuffed to bits to have created an industry first.”
The outcome has produced a fruity, sweet and smooth whisky that is beautifully easy to drink and great mixed with ginger beer to create a Sweet Ginger Fizz.
On describing the new whisky, Robbo explained: “The nose is fruity with lemons and green apples, hints of vanilla pod and coconut. The taste is sweet vanilla, coconut and fresh fruits with hints of spices. The long lingering sweet taste of vanilla and coconut is balanced with a late sherbet lemon tang. It’s hard to believe that a simple malt whisky can contain so many great flavours and is a true testament to the great teams at both Cooley’s and Bunnanhabain.”
Jon, Mark and Robbo revamped their original Smooth Sweeter One recipe following feedback from thousands of consumers around the world. The range also includes The Rich Spicy One and The Smokey Peaty One, both produced by mixing many single malts from across Scotland.
The new Smooth Sweeter One recipe is available in the UK nationally through Oddbins and all good independent retailers at £17.00 per bottle. It is also available in Japan, South Africa, Sweden and Canada (in a 75cl bottle in line with Canadian liquor laws) and will launch in the USA in summer 2005.
