ADM 4.0 Provides New Automated Data Movement Features for Lights Out Information Lifecycle Management

OuterBay, a leader in information lifecycle management (ILM) solutions for applications and databases, today announced the fourth generation of its Application Data Management (ADM) Suite which provides a new level of automation and simplicity for ILM. Version 4.0 extends the flexibility and ease of use across the entire suite, with a host of features that enable significantly simpler and faster implementation and ongoing management.

For enterprises establishing ILM for compliance with federal and state regulations, ADM 4.0’s automated “Lights Out” operation provides the easiest and least resource-intensive means of data retention for 24x7 environments while maintaining high availability, enterprise application performance and lower infrastructure costs.

"Database archiving is growing in recognition as a best practice for maintaining acceptable performance levels for critical applications while meeting regulatory data retention requirements," said Charlie Garry, Vice President, Infrastructure and Operations Services, META Group. "We believe this market has the potential to reach $2.2B by the end of 2007."

OuterBay ADM Suite lowers the total cost-of-ownership (TCO) on server and storage investments and improves application performance by allowing enterprises to take a lifecycle approach to managing data based on its value to the organization over time. ADM 4.0 simplifies ILM for applications and databases and provides the most flexible, easiest to use platform. ADM Suite 4.0’s new features speed up time to implementation and simplify management. Major features include:

• Automation – Enhanced reload framework and policy-based job set capabilities help automate moving archived data from one information lifecycle stage to the previous stage and allow customers to create dynamic job sets across multiple organizations automatically based on policies.
• Flexibility with Integrity – Flexible Business Rule and Constraint Configuration enables simpler, faster customizations for archiving rules based on their business practices while maintaining data integrity.
• Ease of use – ADM 4.0 includes a new intuitive workflow interface that simplifies configuration, execution and monitoring.

“ILM doesn’t have to be a complicated process,” said Michael Howard, Chairman and CEO, OuterBay. “We’re committed to providing our customers with solutions that allow them to easily create aggressive data retention policies tailored to their specific business practices and execute them automatically. We believe that a simpler ILM process along with the increase in application performance and lower storage costs ILM provides will further the adoption of ILM across the industry.”
