**NetEvidence Highlight v6 to report on the availability, health, usage and SLA adherence of MPLS networks**

NetEvidence has launched version 6.0 of its independent network performance reporting service ‘Highlight’ which now adds support for MPLS networks, often used to implement Voice over IP (VOIP) networks and other delay-critical applications.

Companies seeking the cost savings offered by VOIP - estimated to be between 20 and 40 per cent, can now use Highlight v6 to actively manage these networks and ensure their performance, reliability and availability. Service providers can use Highlight to spot where demand might exceed bandwidth and identify cross-sell and upsell opportunities.

Highlight is an independent, outsourced service that provides easy-to-understand performance reports for many network types, including Internet Access circuits and VPNs on leased lines, xDSL, frame relay, Ethernet and ATM. The reports reveal the network’s health, availability, traffic and quality-of-service in a friendly, colour-coded format that can be readily understood by enterprise business decision makers without the support of engineers.

The reports provide a common, trusted source of data for service providers (SPs) and their customers when assessing bandwidth requirements or service level agreement (SLA) adherence. The richness of the data supports decision-making, enabling companies to drill down to network events to identify the underlying cause of changes in network demand.

Highlight v6 also includes usability enhancements over the previous version. Using Highlight’s web-based interface, users can view essential information within two clicks.

Highlight has already been praised by analysts such as the Butler Group for its user-friendly and intuitive interface, including its distinctive colour-coded presentation. It is already used by major service providers including MCI, IXEurope, Sirocom, PSINet/Telstra and Energis.

“Companies that move to VOIP can realise massive savings, but also become more dependent on their data network,” says Andi Willmott, NetEvidence business development director. “If they’re not monitoring their network usage, they risk overloading the network and undermining their most basic business asset: the telephone.”

Willmott adds: “Highlight is already being used by a wide range of companies to ensure the optimum performance of their virtual private networks (VPN) and hybrid networks. With the latest upgrade, they can access the same easily understood reporting on their MPLS network as their businesses converge voice and data. Seeing how the traffic affects the health and network response time is crucial. No business manager should be relying on network services that they cannot manage and Highlight provides the necessary visibility of the performance in real-time.”

Pricing and Availability
Highlight version 6 is available now as an outsourced service from NetEvidence. Pricing is per network location and the service can be applied to any number of circuits from one to many thousands.
