First Virtual Network Operator to integrate Sygate’s Enterprise Firewall as part of managed remote access service

Weybridge, Surrey, 23 March 2005 – Sirocom, the global Virtual Network Operator, today announced it has collaborated with Sygate, the endpoint security market leader, as a strategic technology partner. The partnership will enable Sirocom to offer customers of its remote access service, Siroconnect, a fully managed and integrated security solution, seamlessly deploying software and security patches on the perimeter network and remote device, using Sygate’s Enterprise Firewall solution and Endpoint Policy Management™ from iPass.

Simon Rogan, CEO of Sirocom, says, “As a VNO we are able to quickly sign new technology partners and address boardroom issues such as maintaining business continuity whilst providing remote connectivity. Carefully combining best-of-breed partners, like Sygate and iPass, ensures our customers continue to receive the best possible service.”

Sirocom is the first UK managed service provider to sign Sygate as a technology partner, and has already implemented a combined Sygate/iPass security solution to Atkins’ 3,000 Siroconnect users within the UK and abroad.

For Ruth Bowen, Alliance & Channels Director at Sygate, Sirocom’s managed services portfolio provided the ideal route to market:

“Sirocom is an excellent avenue for our device security solutions. Their unique ability to provide complete managed services using carefully targeted technology partners, ensures customers receive end-to-end QoS, and reflects our vision of a multi-vendor/operator environment in order to achieve total network security and compliance across an organisations’ remote workforce.”

Adds Rogan, “Increased use of multiple remote working and storage devices, such as laptops, PDA’s and smartphones, goes hand-in-hand with increased security vulnerabilities on the network perimeter and from unauthorised hardware. Signing with partners like Sygate and iPass will ensure our customers can sleep well at night, safe in the knowledge that their network and applications are 100% secure!”
