HONDA MOTOR EUROPE GETS MOTORING WITH HYPERION

… rapid implementation to support greatly improved budgeting and forecasting
process…

LONDON, UK – 29th March, 2005 – The European head office of Honda Motor Co. Ltd., one of world’s leading manufacturers of automobiles and the largest manufacturer of motorcycles in the world, has invested in technology solutions from Hyperion, (Nasdaq: HYSL) the global leader in Business
Performance Management software, for its financial budgeting process.

According to Andy Smith, Systems Development Manager at Honda Motor Europe: “Our budget was previously represented in the form of an MS Excel spreadsheet. This contained the forecast for unit sales, revenue, cost-of-sales, gross profit, operating profit, other costs & expenses, and
profit before tax. However, due to the nature of the previous processes, we had never been able to budget as accurately, effectively and as quickly as we wanted. For example, we couldn’t compare actual sales performance results against budget easily. We therefore needed a solution to address the growing complexity of our budgeting process and to solve our inability to compare budget vs. actuals. Ultimately, the business needed to improve profit
management.”

Honda Motor Europe selected Hyperion Planning, a centralised, Web-based planning, budgeting and forecasting solution that drives collaborative, integrated, event-based planning processes throughout the enterprise for a
wide range of financial and operational needs. As an integral part of the Hyperion Business Performance Management suite, Hyperion Planning allows companies like Honda Motor Europe to track and monitor business plans and
forecasts, translating strategic objectives into operational goals and targets.

Concludes Smith: “The key benefit we expect to gain is the ability to generate more and better forecasting scenarios. Hyperion Planning should allow us to be more flexible than we ever could have been in MS Excel. We also chose Hyperion because we were working to very tight timescales. We
began the evaluation in June 2004 and needed a solution in place by November. Hyperion gave us the most confidence that they could deliver what we wanted in the timescale. Hyperion thoroughly demonstrated how much they understood our business. Not only this, but Hyperion Planning is an easy to
use and powerful tool. Another key factor was its flexibility. This is the first step in a longer term programme and we are confident that Hyperion Planning and Hyperion’s Essbase solution is future proofed to meet our needs going forward.”
