Andrew Wyatt joins company as Vice President of Marketing

Bristol, UK, March 30 2005: Apertio, the industry’s leading open mobility infrastructure company, today announces the appointment of Andrew Wyatt as Vice President of Marketing. Wyatt brings to Apertio skills gained from 20 years of marketing experience within the telecoms and software industries. He joins Apertio from Intuwave Ltd where he was Vice President of Sales and Marketing, successfully repositioning Intuwave within the Smartphone market and driving its product portfolio.

This new appointment is the latest in a series of hires reflecting the growing commercial momentum of Apertio. Mobile operators have realised that they cannot maintain the status quo, as their current legacy infrastructure is too costly to maintain and too inflexible to continually meet the needs of today’s mobile subscriber. As a result they are now looking to leverage the cost effective and flexible open software and hardware platforms spawned by the IT industry.

“The telecoms industry is beginning a huge change – adopting standard, open, enterprise infrastructure, with all of the benefits this provides, deep into core networks to replace ‘proprietary’ legacy systems,” said Paul Magelli, Apertio’s CEO. “Apertio is uniquely positioned to enable this change and Andrew is uniquely skilled to ensure Apertio maximise its success in the market.”

Wyatt spend his early career at Lotus Development in Europe and the US helping manage the company though the high growth days of the PC revolution, before joining Paragon software Ltd where he helped drive the record sale of the company to (now Openwave) in 2000. Following the acquisition of Paragon, Wyatt held several roles at Openwave, including VP Marketing, where he established the company as a leader in open IP-based communication infrastructure software and applications. He joined Intuwave in January 2003 as Vice President of Sales and Marketing.

Commenting on his new role, Wyatt said, “Apertio is the world leader in subscriber-centric mobility software, driving the economics of standards based software solutions into the heart of the operators proprietary core networks. This is a huge opportunity that Apertio must scale to meet.”
