WildPackets Showcases New Omni Sensors at Wireless LAN Event 2005

Walnut Creek, California, April 4, 2005 - WildPackets Inc., innovator in advanced network services fault analysis, will showcase their new Omni Sensors, and their Omni distributed fault analysis platform at the Wireless LAN Event 2005, Olympia, London, from 20th – 21st April. WildPackets’ attendance at the event, a leading one of its kind in Europe, is reflective of its growing presence across Europe. Company representatives will offer live demonstrations of product functionality in WildPackets Stand 306. Riaz Khan, Director of European Sales, and Phillip Shade, Senior International Engineer, WildPackets, will be available for interviews on appointment. Shade will also present a session on detecting rogue access points on 21 April.

The Omni Wireless Sensor and Omni Spectrum Sensor further extend the capability of WildPackets’ Omni distributed fault analysis platform that shipped in November 2004. By deploying an Omni Sensor with every WLAN, network engineers gain real-time visibility into WLAN traffic and RF conditions across the enterprise. The Wireless Sensor enables network engineers to rapidly troubleshoot 802.11a/b/g networks and to identify and locate rogue access points and other security threats which can compromise legitimate traffic. The sensor integrates with WildPackets’ Omni solution for network services fault management, enabling IT teams to leverage their investment in fault management for wired networks, including 10/100, full-duplex Gigabit, and WAN.

The Omni Spectrum Sensor is a stand-alone device that monitors and analyses wireless traffic in real time. The enhanced capabilities include all of the expert and statistical analysis of the Omni Wireless Sensor and add specialised hardware-based RF Spectrum analysis capable of assessing the health of a remote wireless network.

“Security events, network infrastructure problems, and application errors can originate from either the wireless or wired side, so if a customer chooses to deploy a wireless overlay system, it should meet all the requirements of an enterprise network management system: one platform to monitor, troubleshoot, and secure all network segments,” said Brant Cooper, vice president, corporate strategy, WildPackets.

The Omni distributed fault analysis platform enables network-wide fault analysis on any network segment—WAN, LAN, or WLAN—from a single console. The Omni platform includes OmniPeek analysis console, Peek DNX distributed analysis engine, Omnipliance turnkey appliance, Omni PacketGrabber desktop capture service, and Omni Management Console utility. The platform now supports all types of networks, from WAN links to Gigabit Ethernet to 10/100 and wireless LANs, and offers breakthrough Visual Expert features that allow network engineers to find and fix service outages far more quickly than ever before.
