Bury St Edmunds, UK – April 11th, 2005 – EASY SOFTWARE UK, Europe’s foremost supplier of integrated document management, workflow and archive solutions, has today been unveiled as the first document management supplier to secure accreditation from the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales (ICAEW) for its newly launched document management accreditation scheme.

Established over 15 year ago, the ICAEW’s IT accredited product schemes are independent and have attracted significant market adoption. The schemes have extended to embrace a range of software solutions and services including financial and non-financial products, accounts production software, practice management and tax products and e-commerce solutions and is a highly respected programme by the accounting profession and software developers alike.

Document management technologies have been revolutionising the efficiencies of businesses across the globe for more than a decade. Organisations converting from a paper to electronic paradigm have realised significant storage savings, reduced time consuming paper filing, storage and retrieval tasks and increased service levels and customer satisfaction. A growing number of UK accountancy firms are also enjoying the transition from paper to an automated electronic system where paper is scanned, stored and archived to enable immediate retrieval of information and offering a rapid return on investment. This new scheme by the ICAEW to accredit document management systems is testament to the growing interest and adoption of document capture, storage and archive technologies amongst its members.

Craig McLellan who runs the ICAEW Accredited IT Product Scheme comments, “This new document management scheme gives our members valuable access to reliable, independently assessed reports on document management products and vendors who are targeting the accountancy market. This is in response to the demands of our members who are embarking on projects to get rid of paper and adopt electronic document management technologies.” Craig continues, “EASY SOFTWARE has already installed solutions in a number of accountancy firms and its products are included in the portfolios of Star Computers and Spacemaker. We are delighted to welcome EASY as the first vendor to be accredited in this new document management scheme.”

Amongst those accountancy practices that have already opted for document management from EASY SOFTWARE is Croydon-based Chartered Accountants, Bryden Johnson. Neil Johnson, Partner at Bryden Johnson spearheaded the firms’ efforts to reduce its reliance on paper and to release valuable storage space to house the new financial services division. “Our electronic document management project was precipitated due to the pressing need to house new staff and this proved to be a catalyst for change within the firm. We have successfully implemented Spacemaker (EASY SOFTWARE) and we have achieved a demonstrable return on investment in terms of saved accommodation rental costs in a very short time.” Neil continued, “We are now converts to the benefits of reducing reliance on paper and we have become increasingly aware of the productivity and efficiency benefits that we can realise through storing documents electronically and this coupled with improved client service have made this a far
reaching project in terms of its impact for the firm.”

EASY has secured a number of accountancy firm wins through a strategic partnership with Spacemaker ( ), a business solutions provider that specialises in professional practices. Clients include Richard Morgan, The Wells Partnership, Brooks & Co, Samuels & Co, Richard Morgan, SJD Accountancy, Jeff Lermer & Associates, McEwan Wallace and Bryden Johnson. EASY has also proved to be the system of choice of finance directors across the UK who are deploying EASY technologies to automate their accounts payable functions; have seamlessly integrated EASY into their SAP systems; and core financials packages such as Sun Systems through resellers like Touchstone and Sapphire.

“The ICAEW Document Management accreditation scheme is a valuable tool for all member firms who are considering purchasing document technologies; it not only gives them an independent view of the product, but they are secure in the knowledge that the products have passed a robust technical evaluation criteria and are supplied by companies who are financially sound and who offer strong customer support”, commented Andrew Graham, CEO of EASY SOFTWARE UK. “We are delighted to be the first supplier to be accredited and we are confident that this independent seal of approval will further strengthen our appeal to accountancy firms across the UK and Europe.”

About the ICAEW IT Product Accreditation Scheme
The ICAEW IT Accredited Products Scheme has been in existence for some 15 years now. It was originally established by the ICAEW, in response to the demand from its members, for access to reliable and properly evaluated software products in the accounting market and has now extended that to cover many products that accountants will use in the working day.

The Scheme now lists over 51 software packages that have satisfied its robust technical evaluation criteria supplied by companies who are financially sound and which offer strong customer support. These are key considerations for accountants in industry making purchasing decisions on appropriate software and for those in practice to consider in relation to their own businesses and in advising their clients.
