Solutions 2005 Conference Attendees Reinforce Key Role Business Intelligence Plays in Fueling Enterprise Planning and Business Performance Management

NEW ORLEANS and SANTA CLARA, Calif., April 13, 2005 – Interactive dashboards that enable business users to identify problems—and crucially, determine the reasons for those problems—are critical to achieving performance visibility, according to a survey of nearly 500 participants attending Hyperion’s Solutions 2005 conference in New Orleans. More than 95 percent of respondents said interactive dashboards with drill-through capabilities are “very important” or “somewhat important” to determine the root causes behind data variances. The survey results also show that respondents view Business Intelligence software, such as management reporting and analysis, as key to fueling overall Business Performance Management.

Interactive dashboards are increasingly becoming a “must have” for companies committed to high performance. Easy-to-use and personalize interactive dashboards offer an unparalleled ability for even novice users to drill deep into source data to find the root cause of a problem or variance. According to the survey, 62 percent of respondents say they are focusing on issues such as planning, budgeting and forecasting, as a top priority. Solutions 2005 featured a Business Performance Management Workshop in which attendees were invited to drive their own interactive dashboards. Sponsored by HP, the workshop drew more than 1,000 conference attendees during the event. The workshop featured individual computer stations that allowed customers to walk through several pressing business scenarios and drill down into data using Hyperion interactive dashboards.

Survey responses were evenly drawn from IT and finance departments. The Solutions 2005 conference, held April 10 – 13, is the world’s premier event for Business Performance Management. The Solutions conference attracted more than 4,000 customers and partners.
