Alcatel-Shanghai Bell, a leading Chinese telecommunications provider, has selected UGS’ Tecnomatix eM-Execution software to support its printed circuit board assembly operations and to provide traceability and lead free compliance in order to meet customer and regulatory requirements.
Alcatel-Shanghai Bell has used UGS’ Tecnomatix new product introduction software for PCB assembly and test for more than five years. The company chose the full suite of eM-Execution solutions following an extensive competitive evaluation process.
eM-Execution will be used to provide full component, product and process traceability to comply with both customer and regulatory requirements. Alcatel-Shanghai Bell is also the launch customer for the new eM-Execution lead free solution as it prepares to meet the European restriction of hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment (RoHS) regulations to be introduced on 1 July 2006.
“As the leading telecom solutions provider, we will continue to improve our product and process traceability in order to ensure quick response to market demands. We rely on UGS for further improvements to our shop floor data collection, analysis and management so that we can meet the new lead free regulations,” said Martin Lehnich, executive vice president of Alcatel-Shanghai Bell.
“Alcatel-Shanghai Bell’s latest purchase of UGS Tecnomatix marks one of the most comprehensive shop floor implementations we have ever been involved with in the electronics industry. We are especially proud of this selection given the extensive evaluation process,” says Chuck Grindstaff, executive vice president of products, UGS.
“With the recently completed acquisition of Tecnomatix by UGS, we have created the world’s leading manufacturing technology and solutions provider, and this selection firmly establishes UGS and its Tecnomatix products as the preferred manufacturing solution for global electronics manufacturers.”
