Stand 550, Infosecurity Europe, Olympia London - 26th April 2005 - Kaspersky Lab, a leading developer of secure content management solutions, announces the expansion of its IT-security business and establishment of a new branch - InfoWatch ( focused to provide solutions to protect corporate data against internal threats: leaks of confidential information, industrial espionage and sabotage.

InfoWatch develops unique technologies for minimizing the risk of data leakage, data loss, sabotage, industrial espionage and other types of careless or illegal actions of personnel towards confidential information. InfoWatch solutions allow for an effective and transparent control over document usage and prevent access for those users that do not comply with the corporate IT-security policy. In particular InfoWatch provides continuous checking of e-mail and web traffic, as well as data monitoring on the level of file operations (copying, changing, renaming, deleting, printing documents). In combination with traditional defense systems against external threats the solution enables the creation of a full-scale IT-security structure by ensuring the corporate "backdoor remains shut” - reliably protected against internal threats.

InfoWatch was officially introduced to the domestic market in the Russian Federation in September 2004. “Our solutions have gained an exceptional popularity: just six months after commercial availability our products have been adopted by a number of major local companies and government agencies. The customer list already includes: United Energy Systems (state monopoly for electricity production and transmission), Transneft (world's largest oil transportation company), and Beeline (largest Russian mobile operator),“ said Eugene Preobrazhensky, CEO of InfoWatch, “We have prepared thoroughly for our international launch and will be working hard to replicate our evident success in Russia on a global scale”.

InfoWatch has opened a European office in conjunction with Kaspersky Lab Benelux in Hertogenbosch, Netherlands. Benelux was chosen for its central location in Europe and the experienced management team. Dick Geheniau, managing director of Kaspersky Lab B.V. since 2002, will now also be the managing director of InfoWatch B.V.

The European branch of InfoWatch will support a full range of business processes: marketing, selling, implementing and supporting InfoWatch solutions in the European market. This is a challenge, given that Anti-Leakage Software is a new market. However, the results of both the Ernst&Young Global Information Security Survey 2004 and the CSI/FBI Computer Crime and Security Survey 2004 support the research conducted by InfoWatch: data leakage is a serious concern all over the world. Moreover, many countries already have legislation in place, such as the Sarbanes-Oxley Act in the U.S, which requires financial and other institutions that work with sensitive data to install anti-leakage software similar to solutions developed by InfoWatch. In other words, the market is just being formed and demand is already high.

InfoWatch marketing activities will initially target the Benelux countries as well as Germany, the UK and France. Business development will be supported by Kaspersky Lab local offices in these regions.

“InfoWatch solutions stand head and shoulders above the other IT security solutions on the market today. Comparative analysis demonstrates that InfoWatch solutions lead in terms of quality and provide comprehensive protection against data leakage,” comments Dick Geheniau, “At the same time, the demand for such products is enormous and InfoWatch will undoubtedly help CIO’s resolve many network security issues. We are sure that we will be able to match the phenomenal success of InfoWatch on the Russian market here in the Benelux territory.”
