Press Release May 10, 2005

What do Jemima Khan, Dannii Minogue and Cat Deeley have in common?

Apart from their fantastic good looks and hectic showbiz lifestyles, the answer is that whenever they have a problem which needs fixing, they call for 0800handyman.

Like thousands of people across the UK who find themselves too busy for DIY, all three women swear by the professional odd jobs service founded by Oxford graduate Bruce Greig.

None more so than TV star Cat Deeley, who called for help recently after one of her door handles fell off, leaving her locked out of her bathroom.

Other call-outs include putting up a shelf for Australian pop star Dannii Minogue or moving a heavy rug for Hugh Grant’s heiress girlfriend, Jemima Khan.

But whatever the job, all three know that by calling 0800handyman, they can rely on a professional worker who turns up on time, does the job well and does not charge the earth.

As a result, 29-year-old Bruce’s company – dubbed ‘Kwik Fit for Houses’ - is set to double its turnover to more than £1million this year.

Charging £30 for the first half hour and £20 for each half hour after that, the company’s most common call-outs are to hang pictures, put up shelves or assemble flat-pack furniture.

Among other notable names to have already used his services are Conservative Party spokesman on international development Alan Duncan, who wanted someone to hang some pictures, and writer and critic AA Gill and his former supermodel girlfriend Nicola Formby, for whom 0800handyman assembled some furniture.

The company, whose head office is in Battersea, London, covers much of the capital as well as Harrow, Brighton, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Hampshire, Surrey and Devon.
