ComputerXplorers, a franchise that helps children discover computers and technology through exploration, is being introduced for the first time in the UK by Nigel Toplis. Toplis is managing director of Recognition Express, which was named Franchisor of the Year in 2003.

A ground breaking initiative, ComputerXplorers has been hugely successful in the US for more than 20 years. Recognised as a leading expert in the children’s education arena, ComputerXplorers UK will have at its disposal a team of dedicated educational professionals, a comprehensive training schedule and an instructional methodology that incorporates carefully designed lesson plans and hands-on activities.

The objective of this innovative franchise is to assist self-learning via computers for children aged between three and 13 years. Younger children are encouraged to further their development and confidence in core areas such as literacy, maths, science, art and music. Older children can improve their general learning skills, productivity and performance by using the software.

Weekly classes are offered to participants in a range of community venues, from nursery schools to holiday clubs. Toplis is currently looking for participants to trial ComputerXplorers prior to its official launch.

“ComputerXplorers is a new concept to the UK,” said Toplis who has 11 years’ experience leading franchise organisations. “There’s quite simply nothing else like it.

“We intend to introduce ComputerXplorers to the UK market through a select group of trial franchisees who will join us in testing the systems and processes and mould the concept over the next six months.

“Initially we are seeking three people who can become fully fledged owners of their own business working closely with us but for a nominal investment. It is a unique opportunity for ambitious self-starters to be in at the ground level of a tremendous business opportunity.”

ComputerXplorers is expected to launch in the 4th quarter 2005.

Ends 11 May 2005

About Nigel Toplis

Nigel Toplis is managing director of Recognition Express, a successful franchise organisation of 26 years standing, and Europe’s largest supplier of corporate recognition products, from signs and name badges to promotional products and employee awards.

Before joining the company, Nigel initiated and drove the merger of Prontaprint and Kall Kwik to form On Demand Communications Ltd. The merger was the first of its kind as the competing organisations had the same owner. The change meant that back office systems such as IT and finance were shared, making the organisation more cost-effective, efficient and responsive.
