London – 18th May 2005 - Intuit UK today announced a significant enhancement to the e-payment service integrated in its QuickBooks 2005 small business financial management software. UK small businesses can now pay their suppliers electronically, ending the expense and hassle of writing and sending out cheques. The service is provided by Bottomline Technologies and brings the full benefits of secure BACS payments to smaller enterprises with an affordable transparent pricing model and full integration with accounting software for the first time.

QuickBooks Pro and Accountant 2005 versions were launched in the UK in February 2005. Users can already use the e-payments payroll feature to pay salaries directly into staff bank accounts. From today, users of QuickBooks 2005 Pro and Accountant versions will be able to make electronic payments to suppliers directly from the purchase ledger function of the software.

QuickBooks 2005 e-payments means small businesses escape the hidden costs of raising cheques to pay suppliers. The time, materials and charges involved mean small businesses are wasting up to £12 to issue each cheque. (Source: Bottomline)

By comparison, QuickBooks e-payments cost pence not pounds. For a monthly fee of £25, the first 30 transactions are covered and additional monthly transactions are 25p each up to 100 and are 15p each for over 100 transactions.

Costs are kept low with no set up charges, installation fees or need for additional hardware or software, which you would need with traditional BACS payment software. The e-payment service is fully integrated within QuickBooks 2005 accounting software so there is no need for re-keying of payment information, reducing the administrative burden and risk of error. Accessible by multiple users and supporting e-payments for multiple companies, the service provided by Bottomline Technologies, the leading provider of BACS software to banks and corporates internationally, encrypts all e-payments to the toughest security standards used by the banks and utilises fully BACSTel-IP approved software.

Susan Lazareff, UK country manager, Intuit Ltd said: “We see QuickBooks 2005 as the platform for rolling out practical services that are integrated into the software so that our customers can get the best value out of them. Like card processing, e-payment is a feature that helps small businesses punch above their weight with functions that only larger enterprises had access to before. Extending e-payments to suppliers means more control for a small business over its finances and real savings from doing away with expensive, inefficient processes”.
