Implementation Reduces Department’s Payment-Related Processing Costs; Meets Deadline for New Electronic Payments Initiative

READING, UK – 25th May 2005 – Bottomline Technologies (NASDAQ: EPAY), a leading global technology provider of financial Business Process Management (fBPM) software and managed services, today announced that the South Yorkshire Police has selected the company’s PayBase® payment automation solution to support electronic BACSTEL-IP payments. The South Yorkshire Police is the thirteenth largest of the 44 police forces within England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

PayBase provides mid- to large-size organisations with a single, secure platform for managing payments, cheques and remittances electronically. The decision by South Yorkshire Police to select PayBase ensures that the department will be prepared to meet the 31 December 2005 BACSTEL-IP migration deadline. In addition to selecting PayBase for its payroll needs, South Yorkshire Police will further decrease payments-related processing costs by outsourcing cheque, payslip and P60 management.

“The BACSTEL-IP migration deadline impacts both private and public sectors. As a result, we continue to see an increase in demand for Bottomline solutions from a wide range of local and national organisations like the South Yorkshire Police,” said David Jewell, General Manager, Business Solutions Division at Bottomline Technologies. “PayBase provides a scaleable starting point for all organisations not only looking to automate payment processes for cost reduction, but also to achieve rapid compliance with the BACS initiative.”
