Dr. John Spencer Appointed As Head of Education Sales at Sirius
Leading European Open Source consultancy group, Sirius Corporation
has appointed Dr. John Spencer as Head of Business Development for
the Education Sector. The appointment is seen as a reflection of the
huge growth potential in the deployment of Open Source technologies
following the announcement by BECTA (the British Educational
Communications and Technology Agency) recommending the use of Open
Source software in UK schools.
A leading biochemist at Birmingham University, Spencer entered
Education as a teacher in 1980 having already enjoyed a successful
career as a food scientist with Unilever. With over twenty years as a
biology, chemistry and computer science teacher in the secondary
education sector Spencer left to set up a consultancy providing
computer support and systems administrations services to schools.
Commenting upon his appointment Spencer said, "Sirius are the name in
