AXS-One helps UK Travel Industry to drive down operating costs and improve customer service

AXS-One e-Delivery Service goes live, providing advanced electronic document delivery and online query resolution for tour agents and operators


Watford – 1 June, 2005 - AXS-One, a leading provider of high performance records compliance management solutions, today announced that its AXS-One e-Delivery Service is now fully operational and in use by the UK’s travel industry, including the four largest tour operators – First Choice, My Travel, Thomas Cook and TUI. The AXS-One e-Delivery Service is a hosted, managed service designed to capture and archive securely documentation generated by tour operators and travel agents and to generate and deliver confirmation invoices automatically.

Working together with the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and the tour operators, AXS-One’s e-Delivery Service was developed to simultaneously meet the CAA’s regulatory requirements while eliminating the printing, postage and storage costs created by the estimated 25 million paper invoices generated by ATOL (Air Travel Organisers Licence) bonded agents and operators every year in the UK. The Service improves customer service levels by reducing the time it takes to deliver confirmation invoices to holidaymakers to seconds, versus the delay of up to two weeks associated with traditional post, and by providing agents with 24x7 online access to client details such as booking reports, invoices, and other documentation.

As the regulatory body responsible for repatriation and claims management in the event of a company failure, the CAA has collaborated with AXS-One on the development of the solution to ensure it meets its strict regulatory guidelines. The service improves consumer protection by allowing the CAA to establish the whereabouts of UK holidaymakers within seconds should repatriation become necessary. During the service’s testing phase, the CAA commented in a press release:

“We recognise that the AXS-One e-Delivery Service provides licence holders with an opportunity to reduce their operating costs, without compromising the CAA’s regulatory requirements. After working for several months with AXS-One, and providing comment on the development of the service, we are pleased to confirm that it meets our requirements for use by ATOL holders.”

Over the past five months, the AXS-One e-Delivery Service, which is provided at no cost to travel agents, has been tested extensively by the CAA, tour operators and travel agents to ensure that the system meets their specific needs. The moment a tour operator confirms a holiday booking or makes changes to an existing booking, the details are sent to the AXS-One electronic archive. The system then automatically sends a message back to the agent confirming the details or amendments have been stored.

Jeanne Lally, head of sales at TUI commented, "AXS-One's e-Delivery Service for travel invoices is now live, marking the introduction of a highly successful, cross-industry partnership involving the top four tour operators. Working in conjunction with AXS-One we have delivered improved customer service and helped tour operators and travel retailers to save operational time and costs. The Service, which is hosted by MCI, went live in April and is currently used by First Choice, My Travel, Thomas Cook, Tui, Travelcare and over 1,200 independent agents.
