Press Release June 8, 2005

PENSIONS specialist Harsant has launched a pioneering product to meet the needs of a new type of investor.

The new Starter Self Invested Personal Pension (Starter SIPP) is designed for young entrepreneurs, successful business people and those retiring with smaller funds and wishing to take drawdown.

Research by Harsant revealed that many people with relatively small pension funds wanted a SIPP, but found the charges prohibitive.

Thanks to the specially created Starter SIPP, people can now make sensible investment decisions at an affordable price with low start-up costs and competitive fees.

The Starter SIPP – which has many of the same features as the existing Premier SIPP – allows people to seize a wide range of investment opportunities.

These include:

Stocks and shares
Insured arrangements (eg Trustee Investment Plans and Bonds)
Units in an authorised trust scheme
Shares in an open-ended investment company.

With the Starter SIPP, investors select one investment manager of their choice. Harsant has established relationships with two of Britain’s leading investment managers, Midas Capital Partners and Tilney Investment Management.

Christine Brown, a Harsant director, said: “Final salary pensions are disappearing fast but there are a number of other ways to secure your future.

“Over the next five years, it is anticipated that more than two million people with be grabbing the opportunity to invest in SIPPs.

“We are excited about the new Starter SIPP which has been tailored to meet the demands of a growing market of would-be investors.”

Harsant has been providing comprehensive pensions solutions to clients for more than 17 years.
