GSM phone, fax and data capabilities on a single card; does not require connection to a GSM handset

Portable connectivity specialist PPCP is now shipping Ericsson's Mobile
Office data card, a GSM communications solution designed specifically
for use with notebook PCs that does not need to be connected to a mobile

The Mobile Office GC25 GSM Data Card is a handset-free device intended
for intensive mobile data users. It gives full 9600bps data, fax, SMS
(Short Message Service), full voice and phone-book management functions
on one PC Card, with all functions built-in to the card.

With the Type III PC Card in the user's notebook PC, and the supplied
earpiece and microphone attached, users can connect via GSM to office
network resources, send and receive emails and faxes, and make
completely private voice calls.

A key advantage of the GC25 is that it has its own SIM card, which
leaves the user's own mobile phone free for normal usage. Conventional
GSM data solutions need the user's handset to send and receive data.
Also, the GC25 has a high-power signal output (GSM Class 4), which
enables users to get a good signal even within buildings.

According to PPCP marketing manager Paul Nolan: "The Ericsson Mobile
Office is a true wireless solution, making it very convenient for
data-intensive mobile users. It gives access to more cellular network
services and data capabilities than any other comparable PC solution."

The Ericsson GC25 is supplied complete with antenna, hands-free
microphone and earpiece, and Windows communications software. It is
priced at £255 RRP.
