Helicopter fleet extended to cope with increased demand for time efficient travel

London - June 14th 2005. PremiAir, a leading business helicopter charter and management organisation, today announced that is has extended its fleet to include a second Agusta 109; bringing its total number of aircraft up to fifteen. The high spec, twin-engined helicopter includes a VIP interior, with cream leather seating for 6. Like all of PremiAir’s helicopters, it is equipped to fly in poor weather conditions, when most other companies’ helicopters are grounded. At a flying speed of 140 knots (160 mph), the helicopter makes it possible to fly between multiple sites in a single day to maximise the use of time for a busy executive traveller.

“We’ve seen a great deal of business interest since the coverage of the election, during which the suggestion of using a helicopter as an alternative means of transport was widely discussed,” said David McRobert, Managing Director for PremiAir. “Interestingly, not only is the corporate side of the business growing, but we’re also experiencing an increase in enquiries from individuals who are looking to charter these machines as a way of adding the finishing touch to a social activity. It seems that the attraction of being able to guarantee passengers that there will be no travel delays is appealing to a wide audience.

“The perception of this type of travel is definitely changing,” continued McRobert. “Recent research revealed that 25% of UK business leaders surveyed confessed that they would be secretly excited about the idea of turning up to a meeting in a helicopter and a percentage of the respondents also admitted that this style of travel would have a positive impact on their confidence levels and mental attitude, which suggests that helicopter travel is a fantastic way to create a buzz for any occasion, be it preparing for a customer meeting, a new business pitch or a team building exercise.”

Whilst it will be predominately used for executive travellers, the G-JONA addition to the company comes just at the right time to help service the busy charter period that the summer social calendar traditionally brings with it, which, according to PremiAir is already experiencing a higher demand than in previous years.
