Mentees can now get targeted work-related help and advice
e-Mentoring Ltd, the leading supplier of e-mentoring solutions to the not-for-profit sector, now supports Work Related Learning within its successful e Mentor Pro service. The new functions, which were developed jointly with the London Central Education Business Alliance, enable a student to request help from a mentor with a specific skill or experience. Mentors with the appropriate skills can be allocated to a student for a two to four week period for a concentrated dialogue. The new way of working is popular with both mentors and mentees because by focusing on one subject for a short time, it delivers quick and tangible benefits to the mentee, and is more motivational for mentors whose skills and experience can be directed to those who really benefit.
The upgraded e-Mentor Pro system captures skill data provided by the mentors themselves into the database. The Mentor also sets a maximum number of mentees that he will help at a time. The mentee requests help in specific areas, and e-Mentor Pro provides a short list of mentors with the right skills to the e-mentoring administrator for allocation to the mentee. Students are able to ask questions relating to careers, higher education vocational skills and many other topics.
Security is top priority with all personal details such as full name and email addresses as well as a copy of every email sent stored in encrypted format on a secure server maintained by e Mentoring Ltd. Mentor and mentee are not allowed to know each other's contact details. All communications are handled securely, monitored and archived by e-Mentor Pro. This complete audit trail protects mentees and mentors and coordinators. The software automatically checks for suspicious words or phrases and sends a random selection of emails for coordinator inspection.
