BorderWare Technologies says the next big challenge for administrators will be SPIT

London, UK (23rd June 2005) – BorderWare Technologies Inc., the leading provider of messaging security solutions, announced today that its email security appliance, MXtreme™ Mail Firewall, won “Anti-Spam E-mail protection Product of the Year” at last night’s glittering ceremony at the
2005 Network Awards.

An independent panel of judges chose MXtreme for its outstanding spam prevention capabilities, comprehensive protection against other threats to email and overall assurance of security with a certification of Common Criteria EAL4+. Other finalists for the award were Surfcontrol RiskFilter by SurfControl and MailGate Email Firewall by Tumbleweed.

Peter Cox, VP of BorderWare Technologies who collected the award at the ceremony held last night at the Brewery, City of London, comments, “This award is testimony to the strength of security that MXtreme provides to thousands of users worldwide and we are delighted to have that excellence recognised by winning Network Award.”

Cox continues, “Spam continues to be the scourge of electronic communications. Wherever a new method of communication appears, you can be sure that spam will follow. BorderWare believes that the next big challenge for network administrators will be spam on VoIP – SPIT, which is why we are now applying our award winning anti-spam and other data security technologies to this emerging space.”

The MXtreme™ Mail Firewall installs at the network edge to deliver the most comprehensive perimeter security for an organisation's email infrastructure. Certified to Common Criteria EAL4+, MXtreme provides email security beyond the usual spam and anti-virus controls offered by many vendors and provides them with in-depth defence against a complete range of threats to email including blended attacks and zero day exploits, while enabling overall email server functionality, sophisticated routing and delivery, and secure remote access.

Kaspersky Lab whose anti-virus engine is used by MXtreme to scan all inbound and outbound messages for known viruses was also a winner last night in the Best Anti-Virus Product category.
