The New Harry Potter?

Ever since the success of the first Harry Potter book publishers have been searching to replicate its elusive magic. Now, on July 16th, the launch date of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, the author of a new book, Return to Allapatria is being offered a signing by W.H. Smith.

“This is an incredible endorsement for my book,” exclaimed 33 year old Shelly Parker, “I can’t believe I’m going head to head with the new Harry Potter!” There must be someone waving a magic wand for this lucky author as Return to Allapatria is her first book. The idea for it came out of the blue, one Saturday morning when Peekin, one of the characters, walking into the author’s head, complete with three-piece tweed suit. As soon as the idea for the story began to take shape, Shelly left her the science course to write. She wrote solidly for three months and edited for a further 6 months. It was taken up by Accent, the first publisher that it was sent to. The story has developed into a series of four books.

Phil Trenfield, Events Manager for WH Smith in Wales said that it was their company’s ethos to help develop new talent. “Obviously we are all very excited about the new Harry Potter and many of our stores will be opening at midnight on July 15th. I was very struck by Shelley’s book however and wanted to introduce it to keen readers. Anyone who has enjoyed the Harry Potter books will also enjoy Shelley Parker’s writing.”
