Ink Publishing adds Bangkok Airways and Siem Reap Airways to its portfolio of inflight magazines
Ink Publishing announced today it has added two more Asian inflight magazines to its portfolio in as many months as it continues its rapid growth in the region.
The international publisher, which already publishes more inflight magazines than any other company in the world, has won the contract to produce Bangkok Airways’ bi-monthly magazine.
Ink Publishing will also produce the quarterly magazine for Siem Reap Airways International, an affiliated airline that operates on routes to Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam and Hong Kong.
The announcement comes just weeks after Ink secured a deal to publish inflight magazines for Tiger Airways, the leading Singaporean low cost carrier.
It coincided with the London-based company opening a Singapore office from which to coordinate its Asia operations.
As part of the expansion, the company is recruiting native-speaking sales and editorial staff to work out of Singapore and Bangkok.
M.L. Nandhika Varavarn, Bangkok Airways Vice President of Corporate Communications, said: “We look forward to working with Ink Publishing. Like Bangkok Airways, Ink Publishing delivers unique products to niche markets.
“We will work together with Ink to produce a premium inflight magazine that will illustrate why Bangkok Airways is the best regional airline in Asia and support its award-winning position as ‘Asia’s Boutique Airline’.”
Jeffrey O’Rourke, Chief Executive of Ink Publishing, said: “We are very pleased to be working with Bangkok Airways and Siem Reap Airways International.
“They have focused route networks and strive to be the first Asian airlines to fly to exotic and cultural destinations in Asia. This makes producing magazines a real pleasure – our creative team can focus on their award-winning service, boutique lounges and exotic destinations.”
Mr O’Rourke added: “We are also pleased to announce our second and third airline clients in Asia. This reinforces our position as the world’s leading airline magazine publisher and our commitment to Asia.”
Launched in 1986, Bangkok Airways quickly established itself as Asia’s Boutique Airline – flying to a total of 21 destinations in seven countries – always choosing destinations rich in culture and history and not easily accessible to the everyday traveller.
Its domestic services in Thailand include Samui, Phuket, Krabi, Trat, Sukhothai and Chiang Mai. In Cambodia, Siem Reap Airways flies to Phnom Penh as well as Siem Reap (Angkor Wat), Luang Prabang (Laos) and Hong Kong. The choice of destinations underlines both airlines’ commitment to boosting local tourism and promoting local heritage.
Operating a brand new fleet of ATR-72 turboprops, Boeing 717s and Airbus 320s, Bangkok Airways also operates scheduled international services to China, Hong Kong, Laos, Myanmar, Maldives and Singapore. From December 2, 2005, Bangkok Airways will expand further with a service to Hiroshima, linking Japan to Asia’s exotic gems.
In addition to its exotic destinations, the airline’s boutique-style lounges at Bangkok Airport’s domestic terminal, as well as three of its privately-owned airports at Samui, Sukhothai and Trat, are equivalent to business class lounges found at other airports and are accessible to all passengers.
