Team Simoco Launches New Xfin Technology
Cutting edge radio communications technology to bring advanced performance and meet new European directives is launched by Team Simoco
DERBY, UK (30 September 2005) – Radio communications company Team Simoco has launched its new Xfin Blade trunking system, the first of the company’s products to integrate its advanced new Xfin technology.
Developed within Team Simoco’s own laboratories in Derby UK, Xfin has been designed to bring cutting edge technology, combined with adherence to the new European RoHS (Reduction of Hazardous Substances) directive, to customers replacing or upgrading their radio communications systems.
The Xfin technology will be integrated into a new range of Team Simoco products from October 2005 with the Blade trunking system the first to be launched to the market. The development makes Team Simoco the first manufacturer to introduce the convergence of professional radio and PC based technologies.
The cost-effective Xfin Blade provides a fully functional system controller and base station in just 1U. Integrating the Xscale Intel network processor and a Blackfin digital signal processor into a single unit, the new product is designed to enhance the performance and flexibility of communications systems for organisations of any size.
Expandable in modules of one to 32 voice and data channels to meet individual traffic requirements, the ‘plug & play’ format allows easy installation and expansion on a live system with zero downtime for mission critical applications.
The blade uses digital techniques for voice and data communication over an IP backbone. CAT5 Ethernet connectivity allows remote configuration, monitoring and call logging, together with rapid voice and data routing. Wireless connectivity is available using an optional WiFi router and 24-hour support is available to anywhere in the world via an Internet connection.
The new system includes integrated telephony as standard, allowing dynamically allocated telephone audio to be routed over an IP network to any traffic channel. There is no call queuing until the system is at full load capacity.

Designed to bring advanced performance and the cost benefits associated with economies of scale, the Xfin Blade is more affordable than competitor solutions and offers more comprehensive control over communications.
The Xfin Blade conforms to the MPT1327 standard, ensuring handset compatibility and enabling systems to be replaced without additional terminal costs. The self-contained system also ensures no interfacing issues in terms of cabling protocols and line levels.
System management is through a Windows XP programming package, providing a range of reporting and control options including call logging as standard, fast database downloads and online or offline configuration changes.
