PRIMAX, manufacturer and supplier of computer peripherals, has launched two exciting new USB (Universal Serial Bus)* scanners, the Colorado 9600 and Colorado 19200. These scanners produce high quality scans combining the latest technology with user-friendliness, and guarantee clear results and text recognition in 35 languages. The scanners are supplied with PrimaPAGE 98 OCR software, PowerTWAIN preview tools and MGI PhotoSuite image processing software.

The USB connection makes the PRIMAX scanners particularly suited to current needs in the consumer market: the scanners are easy to connect, with PCs automatically recognising them, and have fast scanning speeds. The carefully selected software enables the user to create cards, calendars and drawings, and to scan text and photographs. In addition, scanning remains challenging because users can modify the image on the screen any way they like.

PrimaPAGE 98 is based on the award-winning Abbyy FineReader technology. Using this software, it is possible to simultaneously select 35 languages, producing optimum results when scanning texts containing multiple languages. Additionally, the software recognises tables, images and complete layouts. The scans can be saved in any word processing or spreadsheet application.

The PowerTWAIN software is used for previewing images, automatically guiding users through the program and enabling them to alter images before the scan has even been made. With the pre-scan option users can determine the images they want to scan, choosing the shape and size. Colour, clarity, focus, resolution, contrast and gamma can be modified with a click of the mouse, whilst the edit area makes rotations possible.

MGI PhotoSuite enables the user to perform creative alterations. In no time at all, the image can be easily manipulated on the screen, making it simple to create cards, calendars and drawings from text or photographs.

Nico de Goede, PRIMAX area manager for Benelux and the UK, commented: 'The Colorado 9600 and 19200 are fast, high-quality, entry-level scanners. Bundled with the image and text editing software, these scanners are very desirable products. We are pleased to add them to our extensive range of peripherals.'

The Colorado 9600 has an RRP of £99.00 and the Colorado 19200 has an RRP of £119.00, both including VAT. The scanners are available now from Makro, Tempo and Dixons Stores Group.
