Northgate Information Solutions today announced that its penalty notice enforcement solution will be used by the British Transport Police (BTP).

Following the national roll-out of the government’s Penalty Notices for Disorder scheme, for which Northgate is the approved supplier, BTP will become the latest force to fully implement the Northgate Enforcement Solution (NES).

BTP had participated in the pilot phase of the Penalty Notice for Disorder scheme, but the notices issued were processed by another force. To support its commitment to public safety and reassurance, and an increased visibility on Britain’s railways, the force will take over the management of the penalty notices it issues from January 2006.

Northgate will provide:

- a force-wide software license for NES;
- an effective hardware platform;
- full installation services;
- ongoing maintenance.

David Meaden, Managing Director of Public Services at Northgate Information Solutions, said today:

“We are delighted to be working with the British Transport Police, ensuring that officers and back office staff have the tools they need to deal effectively and efficiently with nuisance behaviour on our railways.

“Through the use of our software, forces will be able to manage their systems more effectively, provide full audit trails and review and improve their performance on an ongoing basis.”
