Last night top hairdresser Lisa Shepherd was awarded the highest and most coveted title in the hairdressing industry ‘British Hairdresser of the Year 2005’.

On winning British Hairdresser of the Year, Lisa said, “It was amazing just to be nominated for this award but to actually win is something else completely! This being my first nomination, I really didn’t think I would win it this year. It has always been one of my biggest ambitions to win British Hairdresser of the Year, so it’s a dream come true”

Following in the footsteps of some of the greatest hairdressers of our time, Lisa will hold the title for a year, joining past winners of this celebrated award such as Trevor Sorbie, John Frieda, Nicky Clarke, Beverly Cobella and Charles Worthington. Over the last three years, since opening her salon, Lisa has hit the industry by storm, winning numerous awards and winning over the beauty press with her down to earth manner, technical expertise and frankly her ability to make even the worst head of hair look a million dollars. It is the area of colour that is Lisa’s speciality and she is renowned for tackling colour corrections that most hairdressers would run a mile from!

As if winning “the big one” isn’t enough, Lisa also retained her title, British Colourist of the Year, for the 3rd year running and her Artistic Director Tim Scott-Wright scooped Midlands Hairdresser of the Year.

“This is an incredibly exciting year for the whole team”, says Shepherd, “and it looks set to get even more exciting. I am delighted that Tim has won his regional title – he really deserves it, he is a phenomenal young hairdresser!”

The British Hairdressing Awards are recognised the world over.
It is notably British hairdressing at its very best, setting trends, leading the way forward and progressing the careers and profiles of many of our hairdressing icons.

Held at the exclusive Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane, London, the glitzy, star-studded event, presented by Hairdressers Journal International and sponsored by Schwarzkopf Professional, was hosted by TV presenter Jonathan Ross. The evening kicked off with an exquisite five course meal and live entertainment from Sugababes, one of the UK’s hottest pop acts, followed by the nail biting awards ceremony which had all the finalists on the edge of their seats!
