World's largest professional services firm unveils its Global Technology
Industry Group in the UK

PricewaterhouseCoopers has taken the wraps off a technology practice that it
claims will secure the mantle "No. 1 business adviser to the UK technology

The Global Technology Industry Group (GTIG) is centred in the Thames Valley
and draws on the nationwide network of PricewaterhouseCoopers professionals.
GTIG UK is directly linked to the leading edge PricewaterhouseCoopers
Technology Centre at Menlo Park, Silicon Valley - a resource unique amongst
the Big Five which produces the annual Technology Forecast and provides due
diligence and global consulting services.

GTIG will additionally draw on the global technology resources of the merged
firm that provides clients with direct access to 146,000 partners and staff,
867 offices and a presence in 148 countries and territories.

Gareth Davies, GTIG's UK Leader, is excited about the launch: "In Big Five
terms, GTIG really breaks the mould of traditional consultancy. We are a
practice that is not afraid to look for innovative business solutions and be
like the dynamic industry we serve. We already have outstanding links into
its heart through organisations such as the CSSA's Software Business Network
(SBN) and Le Reseau in Geneva and are sponsoring the SBN's launch of the new
UK Technology Awards on 24 February. For a newly-launched practice, that's
an enviable starting position!"

GTIG's existing clients include more than 70 per cent of the world's top
technology companies including ICL, IBM, Hewlett Packard, Powderject, Nokia,
Compaq, Dell, & Yahoo!, to name but a few. GTIG has over 1000 professional
specialists serving the technology sector alone.

One of the principle focuses of GTIG UK will be to share the knowledge
gained by serving these world leaders with those fast-growth technology
companies that need it the most. GTIG has helped many of its top-tier
clients grow from early stage or 'CWEPs' (Companies With Extra-Ordinary
Potential) as PricewaterhouseCoopers refers to them, to the leading global
companies that they are today. Keith Evans, Head of the CWEP team in the UK

"Many technology start-ups get underway on the strength of hard work and
bright ideas. Sadly too many burn out before they can achieve their dreams
because entrepreneurs and technophiles don't get their business planning
right. The CWEP team in GTIG has been formed to make sure that CWEPs get the
right advice on issues that can make the difference between achieving the
dream or slumbering on issues like capital financing, tax planning, R&D
investment strategies and even human resources planning."

To optimise the service it provides to clients, GTIG has organised its
resources and experience, along industry lines. Technology specialists will
operate in seven key disciplines:

* Computers & Peripherals
* Networking & Communications
* Semiconductors
* Software & Computer Services
* Internet
* Venture Capital
* Life Sciences

GTIG works closely with venture capitalists and other finance providers and
is conducting the European Private Equity survey for European Venture
Capital and Private Equity Association (EVCA) this year.
PricewaterhouseCoopers GTIG may even make an investment in the early stages
of CWEPs development analogous to that of a venture capitalist.
