High level conference and exhibition programme launched in response to the increasing demand for information and advice

London, 15th September 2006 – Index Conferences and Exhibitions Organisation Est, specialists in organising international, national and regional medical, scientific and trade conferences and exhibitions, has today announced that it has created a new conference and exhibition programme in order to provide information to, and answer questions from, British businesses interested in investment opportunities in the United Arab Emirates.

Held from November 22nd until November 24th 2006 at ExCel London, the ‘Emirates-UK Business Investment Opportunities Exhibition’ is free to attend and will offer delegates an exclusive insight into the plans that UAE based organisations are already implementing towards future development; as well as providing a platform to listen to high level commentary from keynote speakers such as H.E. Sheikha Lubna Al Qassimi, Minister of Economy and H.E. Salah Al Shamsi, President – Federation of Chambers of Commerce & Industry of the UAE.

“There are a number of business benefits commonly associated with investing in the UAE, most notably its position as a hub for trade across the region, but it’s good to see that organisations are now looking at the wider perspective and seeking advice on long term investment opportunities within this vibrant economy,” commented Dr Mohamed Smadi, Secretary-General & Chief Executive at the Arab-British Chamber of Commerce. “Having such a wide range of organisations under one roof, coupled with the opportunity to engage in detailed discussions, will be invaluable to attendees.”

Taking into consideration that government forecasts expect the real estate market in Dubai alone to increase from £24 billion to £27 billion in the next four years, and putting it alongside the evidence that supports the rapid increase of British goods being exported to the country, it is not surprising that UK companies are taking a very serious approach to investigating ways in which they can capitalise on the energetic growth that is being seen across the UAE.

Baerbel Kirchner, director of the UK and Ireland office of the Government of Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) commented that “Dubai provides substantial opportunities for British business, including SME’s. British exports to Dubai in 2005 were a total value of £4.76 billion – up by 134 per cent compared to 2004. A further indication of growing British business interests in the emirate can also be seen in the rapid rise in exports of British goods to Dubai supplying this booming economy, as illustrated in Dubai becoming the UK’s 10th largest export market globally - up from 17th place in 2004.”

“The interest that we have had from companies wanting to exhibit has been exceptional, which proves that there is a gap in the calendar of events for a high level seminar that can provide valuable information on this topic,” said Abdul Salam Al Madani, President, Index Conferences and Exhibitions. “We also anticipate registering in excess of 5,000 attendees during the three days so would be very surprised if each speakers track session isn’t at full capacity.”

Sponsored by Federation of the UAE Chambers of Commerce & Industry, the value from this event is that organisations in all sectors, and at any stage of the investment cycle, can benefit from talking to knowledgeable advisors in all areas associated with expansion, relocation and investment.

“Attendees can expect to be able to build a network of contacts and suppliers in order for them to obtain the best advice, direction and consultancy that they need to make an informed decision quickly. The UAE Delegation will include senior officials from Government and Private sectors,” added Mr. Al Madani.

Organisations already committed to supporting the conference include, but is not limited to, the UK Trade & Investment Office, the Arab-British Chamber of Commerce, the Department of Planning & Economy - Abu Dhabi, the Emirates Ministry of Economy, Jebel Ali Free zone Authority, and the Department of Tourism & Commerce Marketing – Dubai.
