Rosie Snowdrop is back – and raising money for charity!

Rosie Snowdrop, the woolly white Westie with the wonky ear, is back in a brand new adventure and, yet again, she’s helping raise money for charity.

Rosie Snowdrop Wants To Go To The Seaside is the delightful new title from children’s author, Henrietta Hawkins. Aimed at children aged 3-7, as well as adults with a love of dogs, the book follows the adventures of Rosie, who’s desperate to go to the seaside. When her friend Bodger, the wise old Labrador, breaks the news that her holiday has been cancelled, Rosie is flabbergasted. She can’t possibly wait until next year for a holiday, so tries to find a friend to travel with. But finding that special friend isn’t quite as easy as it seems.

“In this story the message I’m trying to convey is that to a feisty and independent dog (or child!) the idea of independence is very beguiling – but the reality can be frightening,” explained Henrietta.

Keen to help raise awareness and funding for hospices, after losing a friend, the author is donating money from the sale of each book to two hospices – St. Michael’s Hospice in Hampshire and Thames Hospicecare.

Romantic novelist and animal lover, Jilly Cooper, who’s a fan of the books, said, “It is lovely to see Rosie Snowdrop back in such cracking form and even having a little romance with a handsome Italian bloodhound. It is also wonderful to think the tales of such an enchanting dog as Rosie are raising money for such worthwhile causes as hospices.”

This book builds on the success of Rosie Snowdrop Wants a Passport, which was illustrated by 12-year-old, Nell Bond. With Nell now a busy teenager, Henrietta instead turned to watercolourist Jane Swan for the illustrations for Rosie Snowdrop Wants To Go To The Seaside – and they’re both thrilled with the results. The magical illustrations complement the story perfectly and children love them. Rosie already has a keen following and it’s hoped that a whole series of Rosie books will follow.
