New research conducted by Contact4Me, the leading service for contacting next-of-kin in emergency situations, shows that most British adults are concerned about another terrorist attack on London but have little or no provision whatsoever for contacting friends and family if they are caught up in a repeat of 7/7.

70% of those surveyed said they were ‘very worried’ about a future terrorist attack on the capital city and yet unbelievably 55% of respondents had made no provision for the emergency services or members of the public to contact their next-of-kin.

Of those people that did have some provision to contact their loved ones, most were relying on mobile phones (61%) or identification held in a wallet or purse (36%). However, 31% of all respondents surveyed said it had taken up to 3 hours to contact next-of-kin by mobile phone during last year’s 7/7 bombings; with 6% saying it took more than 5 hours. 78% of all respondents surveyed kept no record of their medical history on their person.

Contact4Me was set up by Sue and Steven Salik after one of their daughters was caught up in the 7/7 bombings in 2005. Contact4Me is a personal emergency database service which allows you to store up to ten telephone numbers (including your doctor’s details) and any medical alerts in your very own secure personal database. This information can be accessed immediately by the dedicated Contact4Me call centre, or directly via the internet, by the emergency services or an individual that comes to your aid after an emergency occurrence. The service is accessible worldwide anytime, anywhere and all contacts can be modified in real time.
