STAYING IN IS STILL THE NEW GOING OUT
So Long as Someone Else: Organises it, Cooks, Tidies up and Redecorates

As the Christmas party season approaches new research released today by Ferrero Rocher proves that Brits still love to get together. Seeing friends helps* us feel more positive (42%), supported (44%), happy (46.9%) and included (41.2%) and over half of those questioned still listed entertaining at home as their top choice for a gathering.

Despite this, ever increasing pressures on our time and energy are being blamed for a falling number of traditional dinner parties. Nearly fifty percent (42.2%) of us prefer to host drinks and nibbles rather than a more formal gathering or dinner party (2.5%). Brits love to socialise in the run up to Christmas although the research suggested a desire to get together even more often if life was made a little easier.

Those questioned explained that they’d entertain at home more often if:

• There was less to organise (25.6%)
• Someone else arranged the food (17.5%)
• They had some new ideas for things to do (22.5%)
• Someone else tidied up afterwards (22.1%)
• They had a nicer living room! (13.5%)

The research marks the launch of a new website from Ferrero Rocher: www.sharesomethingspecial.com . The site has been created with the help of leading experts in the field of entertaining, including relationship expert Dr Sandra Scott. Helping to resurrect the inner ‘hostess with the mostest’ in all of us through the preferred lighthearted, get-togethers that make friends feel special and important, Dr Scott said:

“When we entertain, we’re effectively telling our friends that they’re worth it: that we care about them enough to make the effort to make them feel special and welcomed in our homes. These days when time is something that increasingly we have less of, this is especially the case. As a result, the person who has made that effort can feel genuine admiration and gratitude from her guests.”

Ferrero Rocher is the perfect addition to any get together. Where traditional boxed chocolates are too stiff and formal, and other offerings too everyday, Ferrero Rocher will add sparkle to any occasion – the ideal gift for today’s sparkling social-light.
